A preview and an oldie

First off is a snippet of something I've been working on recently.
Only have a 4 colour pallet limit (including white) and for the first time I am colouring in this style of work. It's a challenge as I have to further think in a three-dimensional way: it's one thing drawing it, but another colouring it to get it looking good.
It challenges me to learn about colour, what spectrum of colour stands out more than others and then applying this in a way to make parts of the image stand forward and the others further back.
My first go, simple blocky colours and even just this takes a whole day to do as I have a lot of lineart to work with.

Secondly I present an oldie.
Something I draw about a year and a half ago.
Done with a green biro pen then I slapped on some tacky photoshop gradient to make it more.. colourful?
All I can say is that I was in a very good mood whilst drawing this.

Z

A little update on a drawing I made a little while ago.
This one is very much about organized chaos. I normally either make these drawings overly detailed or not so detailed and to find a balance of something very detailed but still 'lookable' is something that doesn't come so easily.

And on another note, I had fun playing around with some linework that was originally a concept for a sticker.
Was fun to make, but I find it a little too much. Good for now, but next time I keep it simpler:

Want to make a series of these characters and hopefully find time and inspiration in the future to create a psychedelic comic book.

The caterpiller did it!

First of all, I introduce to you my earthy shaman and his buddy. This I made completely with coloured pencils and a white marker for the body lines. Was lots of fun to do. I love to exaggerate the size of the hands as I see them as the fundamental tools of creation. It's what I do all do time: create with my hands.
This guy has leafy wing(s) but I drew one and the caterpillar coming out of where the other one should be to show the importance of his friend. I always like to create a little story with my finished pieces.

Next is another of my psychedelic doodles. This one I like a lot as it's not too overcrowded with lines and more basic.

Enjoy!

Layers

Scanned this image properly and added a different background to it.

Never be afraid to let go of the 'old' self. We have many layers. Let go and become the new self. Reshell, thank the shell and move on.

Purple and Green

I love purple and green!

First is a little drawing of if I ever make a comic book, it will look something like this.
I would probably end up making the lineart in different colours and overloading it with more colours until your eyes want to puke.
This little lady is just a little practice of styles.
I want to more and more incorporate my psychedelic style with a funky comic style, so this is one of my initial steps.
Totally hand drawn, then some quick Photoshop colours done on my laptops mousepad again. I really need to retrieve my drawing tablet.

And here ladies and gentlemen, is a box.
This is a little capture of a dream I had many years ago, about 4 or 5 years ago. I dreamt a friend of mine walked up to me slowly (he happens to always dress like a Victorian gentleman as a choice) and he presented a three dimensional cube within his left hand. I looked at it and saw the whole galaxy inside of it. So to commemorate this epic dream, I drew a purple guy presenting it.
This geezer was also another practice. I coloured him in with normal highlighters: the pens you normally use to highlight text. These things actually work really well and the yellow and orange also glow in UV light, so that was a pleasant suprise.
The original piece looks very nice under UV light and makes me want to do bigger, more detailed images in the future with this tool.

Thanks for looking!

Not your ordinary fairy

Never been too into the usual looking fairies, I much prefer them like the one I drew here.
The usual fairies you see look like made up models to me. My twist is a more earthy, rough character. This little fellow is part dragonfly, also a magnificent creature in my eyes.

-Drawn using a ballpoint pen then colour changed to a brown tone on Photoshop.

Dropping in

Just dropping in this little doodle.
Was done on an A5 piece of paper, mindless drawing that became one of my more favourites.
Probably make it into bigger deco one day.
